Being a Knotty Girl is more than just having natural hair. It is a lifestyle. A Knotty Girl is the perfect blend of beauty, intelligence, style, fun, sass and class. You can find a Knotty Girl dancing on the bar but making sure she is hitting the books hard the next day. She can switch it up easily, rocking her curls and pearls or sneakers and a t-shirt. Whatever she does she will always be her number one influence and not let negativity get in her way. Whether Knotty or nice she is never afraid to bring out her kinky side. We set these standards for ourselves and challenge you to be the Knottiest you can everyday. Live your life, be free and whatever you do stay Knotty ;)

Back to school tips

Yes, I can't believe it is that time of year already. If you didn't know, Darshanay and I are college students so we know how hard it can be to manage your natural hair without having to worry about it too much. Now, I have the convenience of living at home but my first year of school when I went away, I had no idea what to do to my hair. I had recently cut my hair into a cute little pixie cut and going natural was foreign to me but now I know much and want to help. So here are some tips for my natural cuties on their campus.

1. Protective style- the easiest thing for anyone to do while in school, whether you're staying on campus or off would be to protective style. You get a chance to let your hair rest and focus on whats important, like grades, social life, etc.

2. Find a homegirl- When I get my hair done by someone who is not a professional, I call it a homegirl style. Not for the fact that its not going to look good, just because getting your hair done by someone who isn't licensed is going to be as much as someone who is. College is full of homegirls!! Find someone on campus who knows how to do hair and will do it for the L-O.

3. Invest in all natural hair products- All natural products are great for your hair while in school. A little goes a long way so you get more bang for your buck and you can easily mix and match the products to create a mix that's perfect for your hair

4. Hair Accessories- Buy a couple cute hair accessories that will go nice with your wardrobe. Those days when you are trying to beat the clock or simply don't want to be bothered with your hair, A cute hair acssesorie can give you a clean polished look in an instant.

5. Demen brush and widetooth comb- You don't need a bunch of styling tools.A simple denmen brush and widetooth comb will do the trick for those knotty hair days.

6. Keep it simple- Wear a bun to class to save time, show off those curls for the weekend.

7. Lastly- Have fun, do well and stay focused!!

I hope these tips help and please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I hope everyone has a great, productive school year.
